At Collège du Léman we are committed to recognising academic excellence amongst our students. We are very excited to propose 4 High School Academic Scholarships for the school year 2020-2021. The winning students exhibit strong leadership skills, involvement in the school community, and demonstrate an outstanding level of academic performance.

We would like to look back at one of last year’s winners and celebrate Sophie Bernardo for her steady engagement in all of her CDL activities and her impressive dedication to learning. Congratulations, Sophie!

"My name is Sophie Bernardo. I am 14, I come from France and Hong-Kong. I am in Seconde Maturité, completing my fourth year in CDL. During my time here, I have managed to accomplish most of what was once a mere dream: I obtained the Mention Très Bien, le Prix de la Meilleure Excellence Académique in boarding every year, and le Prix de la Meilleure Progression in 7th and 8th grade. CDL has offered me a wide range of extra-curricular activities, which I have taken full advantage of. Although I am currently enrolled in boxing class and ballet lessons I have had the chance to try out a variety of sports ranging from horse riding, tennis, football, hip-hop, and gymnastics, in which I represented the school at competitions.

Dance classes have also enabled me to participate in many fundraising shows held on campus as well as in the local community. Additionally, being a boarding student at CDL has taught me the importance of giving back to the community. Over time, I have been fortunate enough to offer my help at a wildlife reserve in South Africa: forest clean-ups, gift-giving to foster children, and participating in fundraising activities for hospitals. Finally, having been a boarding house representative has not only given me a sense of responsibility, but has also allowed me to be part of a much bigger family.

The CDL scholarship experience has helped shape my school life in many ways. This opportunity has given me an additional source of motivation as well as a great sense of accomplishment. It definitely pushed me harder to excel both academically and socially. It has also made me realise how fortunate and grateful I am to have such great teachers helping me every step of the way, and faculty members always present to lend a helping hand."
