Year 4 have been having a great time learning about habitats in science!
We began by taking a habitat walk around school to investigate the types of organisms found and where they live. We then used this information to find different ways of sorting organisms using various categories.
Children then studied living things that require very different habitats and identified the things they need to survive. Using the information they found through research, children designed a habitat that was suitable for the animal they chose and explained why each feature on their design was essential to the survival of their animal.
Finally children used their imagination and creativity to make a 3D model of an animal habitat. Children selected their resources from a range of materials and used lots of different techniques to create a suitable habitat or their animal. The children have all worked very hard on their habitats and they look fantastic!
