Classroom News & Photos - Year 2

21 November 2014

In Year 2 this week, we have been learning about measuring length! To begin with, we were learning about using non-standard units of measure so instead of using a ruler, we found other items to measure with. Some of us used our fingers and hands whilst others used their feet and pencils.

Then we moved on to using rulers to measure different objects around the classroom. We learnt that length is measured in centimetres (cm) and metres (m) and we use a metre stick to measure big items.

Then we became tailors for the morning! We used measuring tapes to find the length of various parts of our bodies. We measured our head span, wing span, our height and knowing this information would help us make sure that our clothes fit us.
