Rugby/Netball/Tennis Lions Cup @DCB (FRI/SAT)
U13 Boys Rugby
The boys U13 rugby team went to the annual rugby tournament at Dulwich Beijing on 30th – 31st May. Schools from Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong all took part in a very competitive competition. BSB played six games and managed to win two considering this was many players first attempt at playing rugby the progress made over the course of the tournament was massive. BSB managed to beat BISS Pudong seconds and BISS All Stars. In the other games BSB managed to score a try in each game, but it was not enough against some very well organised teams who have been playing rugby for quite some time. All the boys really enjoyed the tournament and hopefully BSB will build on these results for next year. (Adam Worsley)
U11 Boys Rugby
This was the first time we entered an U11 team into this competition. Having only two formal weeks of training due to Primary FOBISIA the boys did fantastic winning the “Plate” overall for the tournament. We played 7 matches in total, winning 4, 1 draw, and 2 loses. (Scott Niehorster)
U15/U13 Girls Netball
This was the first time BSB has entered teams to play Netball. Overall the girls were competitive in all their games going up against some very seasoned international teams. The progress that the girls made throughout the tournament was tremendous (observed from other coaches apart from myself). Playing against girls with far more experience and better knowledge and game skills upped our game to the point that in our last 2 games, we lost by only 2 points.
The U15 girls showed great courage as they played with heavy hearts with the loss of a close friend and a team member. The U13 girls were fabulous and they too were able to lessen the winning lead of the opposition. The netball tournament was a terrific experience for the girls and a great introduction to a new sport for so many new players. (Sian Evans)
The boys and girls who played this weekend are wearing their uniform or tournament shirts. Please congratulate them on a great effort over a very long and hot weekend.
