On Sunday 14th September a group of Year 10 students went on a 6 hour hike around the Silver Pagoda Mountain Park loop. This was as part of an introduction to the International Award / Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.
We were dropped off at the little village of Hai Zi and from there the students had to find their way on a circular route back to the village, with a compass and map. The hardest part of the walk was hiking up the very steep narrow path to the top of the Siver Pagoda lookout summit. The students certainly learnt about the need to carry plenty of water and the value of team work.
A most rewarding time was had by all when we reached the end of the route back at Hai Zi village.
Many thanks to the many BSB staff who helped chaperone the group!
