Year 12 & 11 Careers Evening - Which path for your future?

22 January 2015

Date: Tuesday 10th February

Time: 6pm-8pm

Location: Theatre

Talks from careers experts will be given to Year 12 (and Year 11) students and parents. There is such a huge amount of information and advice about the choices of what to study and the processes involved in applying to universities and colleges, what career to follow etc., that we hope this evening answers a lot of your queries and questions. It may of course lead to more questions! Wherever you are along the process this evening will be useful to you.

Careers Evening: Which path for your future?

The British School of Beijing invites all Year 12 and 11 students and parents to think about their futures.

School may feel like a long way from being done, but it is just a couple more years until you have completed the first small step of your journey towards the future. School, however important it feels now, is just the beginning: there is university to explore and then the world of work and careers, and everything that comes with them. It’s exciting, but can feel a little daunting, like there are too many decisions and too many things to work out without there being any obvious place to start.

That’s what the careers evening is for. You’ll see that the work we have already started - the conversations we’ve had, the research you’ve done - has already taken you further steps toward your future. You’ll see if you need to catch up.

You will hear from Oxford and Harvard graduates, from an entrepreneur who dropped everything he knew, changed industry completely and set up his own business in Beijing.

But most of all, you’ll be able to ask questions. Lots of questions. We are putting together a panel of experts, people who done all this before and are living in the futures they mapped out whilst still at school. Speak to them, learn from them.

Confirmed speakers include:

Victor Rowse

Entrepreneur and business leader

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Victor is the co-founder of Prime Fitness, a boutique personal training studio chain with operations in Beijing and Shanghai. Focusing on quality of service, Prime Fitness was the winner of the 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the British Chamber of Commerce in China. Victor has been involved in the fitness industry since 1999 when he earned his first personal training certification from the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). He undertook further formal study at the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2011 giving him a Master Trainer certification. Victor holds a Master of Arts Degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University, UK and is also an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA). A lifelong fan of rugby, Victor represented Hong Kong for the national under-19 team as well as the Oxford University Rugby Football Club.
