It has been two very action-packed weeks for the Music Department!
The FOBISIA Orchestra Festival trip was an amazing experience. Three BSB students travelled to BISP in Thailand and rehearsed with 80 students from all the FOBISIA schools for 3 days, culminating in a final concert. Both teachers and students really enjoyed the experience. For the students, it was the first time they had ever worked with a professional conductor. Mr. Jonathan Mann inspired the students to play with more technique, more passion, and more subtlety than they thought possible. From the teacher’s perspective, we would hear him give instructions to the 85-piece orchestra and immediately hear the difference in the sound! It was an amazing event! Although the video quality is not the greatest, you can watch and, more importantly, listen to the beautiful concert online at https://vimeo.com/145940697.
Last weekend at the BSB Christmas Fayre, all Music Department ensembles performed: three choirs, two orchestras, two rock bands, and Miss Star also put together a flute ensemble for the event. The instrumentalists delighted their audiences indoors while the choirs carolled outside near the Christmas tree. It was such a cheerful and merry atmosphere.
Please take a look at the pictures and a lovely video of the music department getting ready for the Christmas Fayre (taken by Janice Jia, French Horn teacher)!
