Dear Parents,
As we have such a large group of students with us in Tanzania they have been split into two smaller groups. The first group have spent two days on Safari and group 2 have toured the Nigrisi Village and completed some community service. During the week the groups will rotate around the activities.
The Safari was simply amazing. Students travelled on Saturday morning for 4 hours to the national park. Once we arrived students completed one of the three game trails. As soon as we got into the park there were ostriches and antelope spotted from the platform at the main gate. Whilst driving around in large bus type vehicles students saw antelope, elephants, buffalo, warthogs, giraffes, zebras, waterbuts, and lions. Stopping for lunch students unpacked and erected the tents that they would be sleeping in on Saturday night. That afternoon saw another game trail with more of the same animals being spotted. We set off early Sunday morning for our last trail and again couldn't miss the large number of animals all around us. The final highlight game when we did come across an elusive cheetah, shortly before leaving the national park and travelling the 4 hours back.
The second group have been busy completing community service over the past two days. They have built stoves, assembled solar lighting and built a goat shed. They have also spent time at a local orphanage, playing games with the children. The tour of the Nigrishi Village allowed students to see how sustainable villages are being set up within Tanzania. The tour guide that took them around was able to explain the project and show them how it was improving the villagers lives.
Both groups are now very excited about completing each other's activities.
