BBC School Report - The First Practice News Day of 2015 at BSB

10 February 2015

On 10th of February, the first Practice News Day of 2015 took place at BSB for the BBC School Report. Please see all the live actions as it happened throughout the day here!

8:30 am: Bright eyed and motivated our budding journalists set off on their various tasks for the day.  Some concentrated on written reports whilst others were filming around school.  Stories on Chinese New Year, canteen food, dreams, varying scholastic expectations and gaming were all happening as well as numerous other one too.

10:45 am: for fun we look at numbers: 16 reporter, 5 cameras, 3 microphones, 2 iPads, 1 green screen, 1 teleprompter and 7 computers all in constant use.

12:30 : working lunch.  A time in which to regroup and make the most of a small moment of calm before returning to the furious pace and buzz of a school report practice news day.  Our producer and editor were scurrying from reporter to reporter checking on progress and keeping everyone on their toes.

2:30 pm: stories are in.  Not all were fully completed and will continue to be worked on till the ‘real’ news day.  Others have appeared on our website (bsbschoolreport.com) and our school Facebook page.

3:10 pm: as the day comes to a close, it has been busy, exhilarating, exhausting, but as always has bought a real sense of achievement and pride in our school reporters.

Bring on News Day on the 19th of March: the British School of Beijing is ready!

A few quotes from our pupils on news day:

"Absolutely amazing, fantastic, terrific, and fun." Cathleen, year 10. Reporter.

"It was really fun, and this time I was much more productive than last time, and it makes me really happy!" Giovana. Year 8. Reporter

"You have to do an awful lot of work coupled with a lot of running around, but that doesn't bother me, because I love journalism." Tania, year 10. Blogger

“I have learnt so much, especially as regards editing” Emily, Editor
