The Readathon - BSB Students Aim to Read Through the Night

13 March 2015

Overnight on Friday 13th March, an intrepid band of our Excellent Readers – a select group of ambassadors allocated to promote reading in our school – aim to read throughout the night in an attempt to read 1,000,000 words.

Kicking off our Portable Magic Festival of Books and Big Ideas, the select students and staff will read a variety of books overnight (and until the next day) in an attempt to with the ambition to test their reading stamina.

Mr Anderson told us, “Reading fiction enhances you more than you know.” He went on to explain how reading fiction not only benefits students in all subjects, but also leads to increased levels of emotional intelligence and (apparently!) levels of happiness.

“And that’s even with tragic stories!” he added. “Just the act of reading fiction on a regular basis leads to increased brain activity for five days, and is just generally fun.”

The Readathon will lead into our Big Read morning. So, come to join us this Saturday 14th March and perhaps help us aim to reach our ambitious target of 1,000,000 words read.
