BSB's first annual Charity Fashion Show took place on Sunday, 19th April. The event, sponsored by Hyundai, shook the shirts off of its 250+ spectators. Models from our pre-school to our staffroom strut down a runway donning pieces from world-famous designers and streaked with neon face paint. Between lines, performers delighted the crowd - from a choral ensemble of Year 12 boys to a science teacher's angelic recital of Drops of Jupiter - an exemplary exhibition of BSB talent.
The grandeur of the event wasn't exclusive to the actual show. We raised over 57,000RMB, which the word "impressive" barely covers. 100% of the proceeds (42,000 RMB) went to charity. We want to say a big Thank You to everyone who came to support our show!
But none could say that the success wasn't hard won. The organisers worked from 7am to 9pm on both Saturday and Sunday, along with a small army of helpers and employees, transforming the gymnasium into an otherworldly chamber of black velvet, black lighting, and fluorescent fashion. Hair and beauty stylists from Laurent Falcon hair salon (including world-respected Laurent Falcon himself) rushed around coiffing models' hair and applying makeup to the standard of Dior's Beijing & Taiwan Fashion Week shows whom they'd styled for before. Hyundai Beijing set up red carpets, raffles and parked two incredible vehicles in the courtyard in front of BSB's main entrance.
It was sure to be the set-up of an extraordinary event.
