Dear BSB Sport Followers,
The last two weeks have seen us end the sport season for all U19 teams with the recent ACAMIS Football Championships which were hosted by BSB. What a tournament it was for the BSB’s boys team and, unique to this year, BSB’s two girls teams!
Our boys Varsity team single handedly dominated, outscoring their opponents by 52 total goals and winning their third ACAMIS Championships in a row dating back to 2013. The girls Varsity team on the other side, went into the Championship match in the same manner as last years, taking it to penalties to decide the winner but again came up just short this year to finish as the Runners-Up for the second year in a row. The big highlight of the ACAMIS tournament however, was our girls Junior Varsity (JV) team who finished 4th overall but lost a very hard fought semi-final match to the eventual tournament Champions by 1-0. Incredible results for a team which was predominantly made up of Year 9 BSB players. The end of U19 ACAMIS Football Tournament marks the formal end to all U19 sport for the academic year.
The U14/U13/U12 boys & girls basketball teams also had their ISAC Championships. In total BSB had 5 teams playing in their ISAC tournaments with the U14 boys & girls playing in the 1st Division. Our U13 boys were the Runner-Ups with the U12 girls winning their tournament as well as being named the Sportsmanship winners, which again is a very unique accomplishment. These tournaments also formally ended all Season 3 games for U14 sport teams. Season 3 Sports Award Winners will be announced in the Secondary Assembly on Friday May 15th.
Season 4 formally started Wednesday 6th May with U15/U13 Rugby (Boys) & Netball (Girls). Trainings are every Tuesday (Exchanges) and Wednesday until the Season ending May 29th & 30th Tournament. At the conclusion of this tournament, all Sport will wrap-up for the 2014-2015 Academic year.
Although sport at BSB on the school to school competitive side is wrapping up, there is still so much going on internally within our House Sport system, with competitions to play for Year 7-10 softball/badminton in secondary as well as Year 3-6 T-ball for Primary. Also stay tuned for upcoming House events in late May and June.
Moreover, our Primary FOBISIA team is still busy with trainings and recently finished playing in our 3rd annual T-ball Invite at BSB vs. other Beijing FOBISIA schools and added this year was a FOBISIA (practice) swim meet. On the T-Ball sides we had teams place in the Top 3 in all three divisions playing, winning the U9 Division and on the swimming side with 90 total races, BSB finished 1st in all but 20. Amazing results as we plan to depart for the games on 1st June to Penang, Malaysia. Way to go Primary FOBISIA!
Lastly, just a reminder our 2015 Sports Award Evening and BBQ is scheduled for Tuesday June 16th from 6-8 pm at BSB. All BSB Sport parents and their families are invited to BSB to celebrate with the winners for U19/U14/U11/U9 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year as well as enjoy a BBQ for the family. Save the date, and RSVP your place at email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org or drop by the Sport Office.
As always feel free to contact me should you have any questions as we finish up the year for 2014-2015 and look to 2015-2016.
