Update from Chatterbox

18 June 2015

  • Chatterbox
  • Chatterbox Cafe

Chatterbox has had a very successful year and it continues to grow, with lots of new food and drinks on offer, and extended opening times.

We are delighted to be able to report that we raised a wonderful 256,000 RMB over the last 10 months. We have given and pledged this money to various charities and good causes in China including Yang Fan school for the deaf, Jing Cai migrant school, the Huiling centre for adults with learning disabilities and also the HOPE foundation. We also have sponsored children in Ningxia province to finish school, and Mao minority children in Guizhou through Couleurs de Chine. We were also delighted to be able to help the year 6 children purchase much needed mattresses for the rural school they visited on their residential in Guizhou province.

None of this would have been possible without the support of all the volunteer mums who work and bake for Chatterbox, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all of their hard work and commitment, and to those who are moving on this summer we wish you all the very best in the future.

Looking forward to next academic year, we will have a new Chatterbox leadership team made up of 5 ladies who hope to further progress the work of the cafe. We also continue to look for new helpers for both working and baking, so please if you would like to join the team next year contact Charlotte Beckett (beijingbecketts@gmail.com).

We wish you all a relaxing summer, and look forward to seeing you in August!
