Friday 26th June Update from Mr. David Cairns

Greetings from the Big Apple,

Yesterday, Thursday 25th June, saw students visit the DiMenna Centre of Classical Music. Whilst there, students had their first experience playing as a Global Orchestra. Anticipation, amongst staff, was high; thankfully, the 82 students hit it off and performed beautifully (there is a video of their first practice on the school’s Facebook). The intense practice session was designed to assist students before their 'Up on The Roof' gig on Saturday.

Before all of this, students were afforded the chance to develop friendships with a range of confidence-building activities.

On the evening, students enjoyed a true experience of New York culture: taking in a fantastic meal of burgers, fries, pasta, fried chicken and copious amounts of soft drinks, water and "cwoffee".

Later today, students are off to The British School of New York to begin another six-hour extensive coaching session. All of this before students take in a live Broadway performance.

The hotel is a stones-throw away from the Empire State Building.

What a wonderful first full day.
