It is that time of year when we are all clearing out our houses, either ready for departure or to get ready for a new year ahead. Please have a think as you do about a way you could support a quite exceptional charity.
Many of you will remember the Aliyu family who left the school last year, and who were such great students while they were here. Tragically and suddenly, not long after they returned home, the children’s mother, Mrs Nana Aliyu, passed away at a very young age.
Although the family were obviously devastated, her husband, General Aliyu has committed to doing something really special in her memory. She was a lady who loved life and loved those around her, and who had a particular passion for supporting the poor and those in need. One of her greatest desires was to support those families that needed it in her home country of Nigeria, and particularly to ensure that children (and adults) had good clothing and shoes.
Her husband has therefore asked if we can help. All we ask is that if you have any shoes you no longer need – adult, child, formal or informal – you would consider joining them together (by the laces, elastic band, Velcro etc), bringing them to school and putting them in the box in the foyer (next to the BSB School model) starting next Monday 8th June until 26th June. The Nigerian Embassy will do the rest.
We are delighted to support one of our special BSB families, and hope this could make a big difference to lives in another part of our world. Please do help if you can.
