Sport Update

05 June 2015

  • U13 Boys Rugby

Dear BSB Sport Followers,

All Secondary Sports have finished for the academic year with the conclusion of the DCB Lions Cup last weekend for U13 Rugby/U15-U13 Netball/U15 Tennis. Our U13 Rugby team posted their best finish in the 5 years we have played in this tournament coming 2nd Overall.  On the Netball side, having only been playing Netball for two years we entered close to 50 girls spread over 4 squads of U15/U13. Though they did not place, the popularity of the sports keeps growing and growing. Given this growth, our U19 Netball team will start training again in September 2015 with BSB hoping to enter a team in the ACAMIS tournament hosted by our sister school BISS Pudong on 30th - 31st October 2015. We will also host our local 2nd Annual Netball Invite (Beijing/Tianjin schools) on 7th November 2015. Finally on the Tennis side, for the second straight year, Tamsin Hart from 9E won the U15 Girls Single Tennis Title. Throughout the tournament Tamsin didn’t lose a single set and won the final 8-0. Incredible result.

On the Primary Side, our FOBISIA squad is well into their games. You can follow all the results, pictures on BSB’s Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/#!/britishschoolbeijing

The results I have so far: Day 1-Athletics 2nd Place Overall. Swimming 3rd  Place Overall. Day 2-T-Ball: U9 1st Place (Champions), U10 2nd Place, & U11 6th Place. Final day of the games (Friday 5th June) all 6 squads will be playing in their Football tournament. Our squad returns back to Beijing on Saturday 6th June.

The following will take place at BSB: Tuesday June 9th (Y1 Football Invite) & Wednesday June 10th (Y2 Football Invite). All of Y1 & Y2 will be taking part in this mixed tournament against other Beijing schools in a football friendly. Y1/2 Football Invite Schedule for the Day is as follows: 1000-1215 Football Tournament, 1215-1300 Picnic on the Pitch, 1300-1315 will be the conclusion of the event. Parents are encouraged and welcome to attend. Parents can purchase Lunch on the Day for the picnic or bring their own packed lunch.

With the above tournaments finishing, all sport (Secondary/Primary) for this academic year will formally be finished. Just a reminder to all the 2015 Sports Awards Evening & BBQ will take place Tuesday 16th June, starting at 6PM in the Theatre with the BBQ afterwards. Parents and children who were part of a Sports team this year are invited to celebrate our year of sport at BSB. Presentations will be made for the 2014-2015 U9/U11/U14/U19 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. RSVP with numbers attending by 12th June: Email: sport@britishschool.org.cn or Tel: 8047-3587 or drop by the Sports Office C208.

Just a reminder: core Sports begin for the next academic year on Wednesday 26th August 2015 for Volleyball, Thursday 27th August 2015 for Football, & Tuesday 1st September 2015 for Primary Football. As always if anyone has any questions feel free to email me at travis.washko@britishschool.org.cn
