Update from Mr. Hughes.

After a very early start and a slight delay to our flight, Year 4 arrived full of energy and eager to get to grips with their new home for the week, 'The Harmony Hotel' in Pingyao.

The Harmony Hotel lies hidden behind the city wall, tucked away from hustle and bustle of the interesting street vendors. Upon arriving into the courtyard the children were met with many smiles and friendly greetings from the Deng Family. The owners of this beautiful hotel.

In next to no time the children were off to inspect their rooms. The sound of laughter and excitement echoed throughout the hotel as they began to unpack.

Not time to waste though... Lunch was served !!! and what a feast. I think it is fair to say that no one will go hungry this week. The spread was endless !!

With bellies firmly full it was then time to walk it all off. Year 4 spent most of the afternoon / early evening waking around the historical wall that surrounds the city. Our guide was very knowledgable and took the children to various temples and ancient buildings. They were even given an impromptu singing lesson, very entertaining.

The evening concluded with more food and a stunning firework display, which the children loved. Upon returning to the Hotel there were a number of very weary faces, crying out for their bed. At 9:30pm (quite unbelievable but true) the last light went out and the voices disappeared.

A great first day but a long one.
