From the music department:

Congratulations to MingQi See and Hazel Lee in Year 7 and Bonnie Roh and Max Han in Year 9 for being accepted to the FOBISIA Orchestra. They were required to have a minimum of ABRSM Grade 5 on their instrument to be eligible for the event, which is very impressive for KS3. They will travel to Phuket, Thailand, in November to rehearse and perform in a concert together with other orchestra students from the FOBISIA schools.

It has been wonderful to see all of the students working so hard and enjoying themselves in the ensemble rehearsals. Besides singing and playing instruments, they are learning valuable ensemble skills: playing together, maintaining their individual parts, and listening to the other instruments and voices. Students have settled into the routine of bringing their instruments on the appropriate day or remembering to eat before lunchtime choir rehearsal. Before you know it, it will be the end of term, and the choirs will be caroling around Beijing at hotels and tree lightings. Stay tuned for dates and times of their performances. Here are some pictures of the Junior Choir, directed by Ms Leanne Harbord.
