Today, on the 8th of January 2016, Ms Song invited a professional Chinese calligraphy painter, Mr.Zhou Dangbing, to teach Ms.Song’s Years 7, 8, 10 and Mr Zheng’s Year 8 class how to write traditional Chinese characters and to understand the technique used.
When he came to the class, he treated the students by showing them some of his magnificent artwork and students were speechless. Later that day, students were shown how to do Chinese calligraphy. It was way more difficult than expected. All the students in the class attempted to write the 4 characters shown; despite our efforts it did not look as good as the professional painter’s, however we all had good fun.
Attempting to write these characters was a great experience and gave all students new found respect for Chinese calligraphy as well as calligraphers!
All students would like to thank the teacher and the school for organizing the treat!
