Temple Fair at BSB
Friday 19th February 2016
The Mandarin Department and Parents Association are very busy organising our new event which we are very pleased to give you information about. Our amazing Temple Fair at BSB to celebrate Spring Festival and the Year of Monkey will take place on Friday 19th February. We hope children and staff will enjoy the day and we would like the students to dress in Chinese costume or wear something red if possible. Please do not feel they have to dress up – normal uniform is fine too as they will still take part in the activities.
There will be colourful performances and plenty of traditional activities, crafts and snacks (see below) for the children to see and buy from vendors. Also, lots of fun and interactive activities with traditional art and craft will create a wonderful New Year atmosphere.
Children in Primary will be timetabled to visit the fair with their class teacher and TA during the day. There will be opportunities for them to buy things so please discuss this with your child/ren and explain that is a little similar to Santa’s Secret Shoppe where they choose what they want to buy, pay and get change. Older children will help younger children with this. Please put some money with your child’s name and class printed on the envelope with a range of notes (5, 10, 20RMB) to a maximum of 200RMB. They can then enjoy the tradition food on offer and participate in lots of fun Chinese activities.
Secondary students will also visit the fair during lunch time and period 5&6, so please provide them with some money to enjoy the Temple Fair. Vendors will donate 10% of their taking to the school for charity.
Vendors will remain at school until about 4.15pm so parents please come and visit during this time.
We hope everyone enjoys the day.
