Year 5 have been buzzing about books!
Year 5 students came to school dressed as their favourite book characters on Monday. Here’s what some of them had to say:
“I am King Duncan. I chose this character because I like King’s because its Royalty and it’s similar to a chief and when I grow up I want to be a chief.”
“I am Hermoine Granger. I chose her because I like her and I kind of have her hair and she is one of my most favourite book characters. When JK Rowling writes about her, I like how smart she is.”
“I am Little Red Riding Hood. I chose this character because I like my grandma and Little Red Riding Hood went to grandma’s house and that is similar to me.”
“I picked Cat in the Hat because I used to read the books when I was younger and they are funny.”
“My character is Little Red Riding Hood’s Grandma. I picked it because last year I was Little Red Riding Hood so it kind of goes together.”
“I am Greg Heffley. I chose this character because he wrote a diary about the things that he does and the problems that he gets himself into. Jeff Kinney deserves a pat on the back for publishing this book and inventing this character.”
The children have been participating in Drop Everything And Read activities as well as poetry flash mobs and story sharing throughout the week. We hope you enjoyed book week as much as they did.
