This is a fantastic opportunity for a group of 15-20 students in years 10,11 & 12 to visit The Large Hadron Collider (otherwise know as CERN), which is situated approximately 15 minutes outside the city centre of Geneva in Switzerland. The LHC is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, and consists of a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets. http://home.web.cern.ch/about - this link gives detailed information regarding its global importance.
