On the 16th to the 17th April, a group of Year 11 and Year 12 students successfully completed a 2 day hike and 1 night camp in the Yanqing hills, north-west of Beijing accompanied by Mr Steve Lewis and Mr Peter Carlilse. This was as part of their Silver Award to help prepare them to the qualifying expedition that will take place in June in Inner Mongolia.

The route was up and down hills, sand dunes and past an area that has film sets that are used for movies. All this the students did while carrying 70 litre rucksacks. The students worked well in their teams, showed great enthusiasm and were a credit to themselves and the school. The group was also observing how people use the land in the area and part of the hike was through a deserted village that showed that changes are taking place.
