After a long and cold Beijing winter, The BSB golf team were really looking forward to heading to warmer climates to participate in the FOBISIA Golf tournament and so after a few months of indoor practice in Beijing, our team of 6 students and 1 coach boarded a flight to Kuala Lumpur to start our week of competing.
The tournament ran from the 14th -18th of March and was Hosted by Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar at the Staffield Country Resort - on a beautiful golf course, rated as one of the best in South East Asia.
The heat was tremendous with every day temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius, coupled with the humidity, it was very challenging for all the tournament players.
The turnout was large with over 120 students from 5 countries and 9 different schools so competition was tough but all the team played well and adjusted quite quickly to the extreme change in weather and temperature.
In the end the level of competition was extremely high and BSB did not come away with any placing’s, but the exposure to tournament conditions and the chance to play golf with other students from British schools was an excellent opportunity for our students and they are excited to start building their experience using this tournament as a base.
A big thank-you to all the parents who travelled with the team for support
Thank you to the equipment sponsors of the BSB golf Team - Maxville Lake Winery and Beijing Medipert Sleep Clinic.
