4pm Year 7 students have arrived in Shandong.

11:30pm

The Year 7 trip began with a race against the Beijing traffic. Despite our best estimates, we found ourselves trying to get to the train station on time for the train. After a dash for the gates, we made it on to the train with 2 minutes to spare! After that start, things calmed down and when we arrived, we traveled through the green scenery to enjoy our first taste of the local food for lunch.

After checking in to the hotel, we went to the cemetery of Confucius. Our local guides gave us insight into his teachings and his influence on modern day China. It was also a relief for everyone to stretch their legs and get the chance to mix with the other students and teachers on the trip.

The students then went to a local market so they could look for souvenirs and have some less intense time before we went to another local restaurant for dinner. Returning to the hotel, the students watched and took part in traditional Chinese singing and dancing before going to their rooms and (hopefully!) getting straight to sleep so they have the energy for tomorrow's activities.
