On day four of the Year 10 trip, students took a three hour bus ride from Lijiang to Shaxi valley town close to Dali. They were welcome to the four guesthouses owned by a local family headed by Mrs. Yang.

After a warm up activity detailing the similarities and differences between the Naxi and Bai minorities using the Hutong notebook, students were given the Zou n go challenge. It involved various scavenger hunt tasks such as finding their way to the village square, enquiring with locals about the history and architecture of the old theatre, sampling the local cuisine through a cookery class and learning how to make a sweet local delicacy and other such fun filled and engaging activities. Student chaperone teachers also gave students points for teamwork.

In the evening, students enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. Wu at his house where a delicious spread of homemade local speciality dishes were served. The day ended with students enjoying a musical performance by the local artists headed by Mr. Wu. Students thanked Mr. Wu for his hospitality and for sharing information about the local history, culture and the fabulous musical performance. The evening culminated with students joining Mr. Wu and his theatre troupe in a group dance enjoyed by all students with enthusiastic participation.

On Day Five tomorrow, students will have another invigorating day of cycling and hiking through Shibaoshan near Shaxi.
