Year 7 BSB student Emilia Thorp has been selected as our Humanities “Student of the Month” due to her dedication, work ethic and the skills she has reflected within her History classes over the past month.
Emilia has produced a number of fine pieces of work relating to the topic of the Norman Conquest of England that Year 7 students have been studying. These included a newspaper front page article on the Norman victory at the Battle of Hastings, as well as an outstanding essay on why Duke William of Normandy won the contest to be the next king of England in 1066. Her essay cleverly combined her own reasoning with references to the source materials available to her.
Whilst I want to congratulate Emilia for her superb written work, contributions to class discussions and consistently high effort levels, I especially wish to emphasise that it was her ability to reflect within her work the skills - such as analysing the validity of sources and detecting things such as bias in them, that made her most worthy of this title.
Excellent effort Emilia, but more importantly; excellent skills!
