Primary Online Learning Update - Monday May 25, 2020

Click to read in Chinese and Korean

Dear Parents,

I hope all our Primary families had a lovely weekend.

Assessment Week

Well done to all the students who participated in their year group’s assessments last week. Teachers will now use the data generated through the assessments to:

  • Write Term 3 reports
  • Assess students’ progress towards beginning of year targets
  • Assess students’ end of year attainment
  • Identify any learning gaps and use the remainder of the teaching and learning time available this academic year to address these areas
  • Inform next year’s year group teachers about the cohort’s and individual’s strengths and areas for development so that they can plan the curriculum accordingly to meet their students’ needs

Parents will have the opportunity to discuss their child’s assessment results and Term 3 report during the optional Parent-Teacher Consultations in the final week of term. Further information about Consultations will be sent to parents a little closer to the time.

Primary School Reopening for Year 4 – 6 Students

The Primary Leadership Team (PLT) and relevant class and specialist teachers are working on the organisation and logistics of reopening the Primary school for our Year 6 students (June 1st) and Year 4 and 5 students (June 8). The PLT and Heads of Year will continue to communicate with the parents of the students in these year groups to confirm the details of both the continuation of virtual learning for the non-returning students, as well as the timetabling of in-school learning for those students who will be returning to school before the end of this academic year.

14-Day Temperature Check

A reminder that for those students who will be returning to school on either June 1st or June 8th, they will need to bring with them their completed 14-day Temperature Check form. Without this form students will not be able to access the school campus. Please ensure that students’ temperatures are recorded for a 14 day period prior to your child’s return to school.

New Classes for August 2020

Class teachers will soon be meeting (virtually) to compile class lists for the new school year. Students will be asked for the names of friends with whom they would like to be in the same class as in August. Please click here for further information regarding how we organise Primary classes each year. If parents have any questions or concerns about their child’s new class placement they should contact me as soon as possible: nonie.adams@britishschool.org.cn

Once you have downloaded the book to the app, you do not need to use Wi-Fi to read it. The advantage of BSB’s online library is that you can access it anytime, anywhere!
