Our Year 6 journey begins ...

On 31st August, 2020, we welcomed back a large number of our wonderful students in Year 6.

Having worked online for 2 weeks since the start of the term, it was great to see the students engaged and excited to learn on their first day back.

In our first topic unit, the students are learning about dinosaurs; how these wonderful creatures roamed the Earth millions of years ago and how we can learn about their characteristics from their fossils.

The students explored the role of a palaeontologists and what better way to learn about fossils and palaeontology than to dig for our very own dinosaur fossils!

The students were given a small fossil set in plaster to dig for. They used a chisel and a brush to carefully extract the fossil and identify the dinosaur. The students also created brilliant time-lapse video to record their work.

This is just an example of the Ambitious learning taking place in Year 6. We are looking forward to having many more exiting and meaningful learning experiences as the term progresses!
