Our BSB U19 ACAMIS Football Girl Team got off to a strong start in the tournament with a confident and controlled 2-0 victory against BIBA. Particularly nice to see Anna Unteutsch Reimann and Maxima Sutter claim the goals in what would be their last sporting tournament before graduating from BSB.
This was followed by another solid 1-0 victory against Harrow, with another clean sheet and an outstanding long-range strike from Lina Patuschka, well worthy of being the winning goal in any game of football.
Stronger tests were to come in the form of ISB and WAB, and the schedule proved to be unkind to the girls with back-to-back games in what were increasingly hot conditions. The performance against ISB was valiant and the girls were unlucky to come away empty-handed, with only a last-minute defensive error proving their undoing after an industrious performance.
By the time of the 3rd/4th place play-off, the conditions were really beginning to take their toll, especially for those who had attended the BSB Graduation Celebration the night before. Missing their regular Centre Forward due to injury had also left the girls without the cutting edge needed to cap of their defensive and midfield exploits. Ultimately, another cruel defensive lapse led to a somewhat unjust defeat. Results and positions don’t always reflect performance, but perhaps that is not such a bad lesson to have learned, and the girls to their credit have always remained upbeat throughout the season. Congratulations to our Team for winning 4th Place!
