May/June Cambridge International IGCSE Examinations

Dear Parents,

We have just received official notification from Cambridge Assessment International that due to the continuing uncertainties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, all schools in Beijing will switch to the portfolio of evidence (PoE) route. This decision has been made to ensure that all students in Beijing receive certification for their work.

Therefore, no CIE IGCSE examinations will take place from tomorrow (5th May 2022). As such, please do not send your children to school for their scheduled examinations tomorrow. I fully understand that this must come as a surprise, particularly seeing as students are undoubtably preparing for tomorrow’s assessment. The official notification was sent to the school at 18:45 this evening. I am sure that you share our disappointment at this unanticipated turn of events.

Please give us time tomorrow so that our academic team can digest and unpack the guidelines that have been provided to centres. We will reach out before the end of the day to share the next steps for our students. As such, there will be no online or face to face provision for Year 11 students tomorrow. In person or virtual support will commence on Friday. Details to follow.

Please note that a few of our subjects are registered through Pearson Edexcel. All Edexcel examinations are scheduled to go ahead as planned starting on the 17th May 2022.

Once again, thank you for understanding and support during these difficult times.

Kind regards

Bevan Graham
