1. What do you think is special about BSB?

BSB is a very tightly knit community with a small student-teacher ratio. Teachers take great care of each student’s academic progress, giving personalised guidelines and feedbacks on our individual learning methods and works. The school facility is also great. I have made great use of the IB Hub area, where we could both study in the quiet study room and rest in the common room.

2. How has studying at BSB helped you achieve academic success/ university acceptance/ personal development?

The teachers in BSB are very supportive of our individual studies as well as our university application process.

3. Please describe 2 of your best memories of your time at BSB.

The Y12 residential trip to Tanzania was an eye-opening experience in that I was given an opportunity to gain insight into the local life there and participate in community projects such as building a secondary school for local children. The activities may have been physically demanding, but they have definitely taught me valuable lessons. The trip itself allowed our year group to strengthen the bonds between us through unforgettable memories.

Other than that, the BSB International Day was enjoyable because we could experience and appreciate different cultures.

4. Who is your favourite teacher and why?

My favourite teacher is Mr Wheeler. He has taught me Physics since I was in Year 11, all the way through IB Diploma. All his lessons inspire us into the discipline of science and train us to have a mind like a physicist. Although I do not plan to study Physics in university, his teachings made me develop a real interest in the subject and be inquisitive about the physical aspect of the mechanisms of natural phenomena in the real world. He is also very caring; he always communicates with us to provide the best advice and support not only regarding physics but also our general school life.

5. Please describe any charity work that you have participated in? What did you learn from the experience?

I held bake sales every Friday from 2019 August to December together with my peers. In the end, we managed to raise 4000 RMB from this activity. This was donated to children in Lebanon through UNICEF.

6. What advice do you have for other students at school?

Manage your time wisely and reach out for help if you’re stuck on anything.
