Arihant Bhattacharjee

Arihant Bhattacharjee 9A

Year 9

Arihant Bhattacharjee in 9A is in his eleventh year at BSB and has the benefit of experiencing education at our school in both the primary and secondary phases. As such, he really embodies the core characteristics and values of BSB, from the way he is kind, friendly and respectful, to his approach to learning and participating in the wider life of school. This year he will be considering which subjects to choose for his IGCSEs. No matter what they end up being, he already has a clear picture in his mind of what he seeks to achieve: “my desired IGCSE average is A/A*.” We certainly like to see our students aim high!

Arihant has many talents that will help him achieve success. One that he regularly likes to share is his musical ability. A singer and guitarist, he has sung in the BSB choir since Primary School, participating in many on and off campus choir performances such as the Christmas and Summer Fayres, BSB’s yearly Soiree, Beijing’s annual British Ball, multiple performances at embassies, and the NAE Choral Performing Arts Festival. Not only is he a confident performer, but he creates his own music too. Every year, Arihant takes part in the Virtual Young Musician competition on Global Campus, submitting lovely videos of himself singing and playing the guitar. Arihant says his “proudest achievement would probably be publishing my own official songs on my SoundCloud page.” It is wonderful to see such enterprising characteristics in our students.

Arihant’s real passion is Design Technology: “ever since I went into Secondary and first got introduced to DT, something sparked inside of me.” This is perhaps not surprising given his high level of engagement in all things STEAM, whether inside the classroom or beyond. For example, DT, Mathematics and Science are his favourate school subjects. When it comes to the termly MIT challenges, he participates with full enthusiasm, recently earning him a certificate for his Mars Landing project. Arihant also thoroughly enjoys co-curricular activities such as Minecraft, and at home one of his favourite hobbies is gaming. Arihant says that his enthusiasm for DT has now “ignited into a blazing fire of determination.” His dream? To grow up and become an engineer. We will support you all the way Arihant!
