Youchan is in his third year at BSB, having joined us in Year 8. Before starting, he was at a middle school in Korea. When he arrived, he joined our EAL programme and made very fast progress, resulting in him graduating from EAL at the end of Year 9, and enabling him to join English first language IGCSE in Year 10. The end of Year 9 also saw him receive a maths award for outstanding achievement. This year, he has started his IGCSE option subjects and is most enjoying studying Economics as he has an interest in how different markets work. He also hopes to work in I.T. as a programmer, with the possibility of starting his own business. It is very clear that Youchan continues to grow in maturity, an excellent sign for his IGCSE studies.
It is not just in the classroom that Youchan stands out. In Korea, he played for the under 19 bowling team Ebonite, and has continued this interest in sports at BSB through CCAs in badminton, basketball, and volleyball. Youchan has also demonstrated that he is a highly caring individual when he recently took on the responsibility of buddying a new student who had just arrived at BSB. This wonderful willingness to contribute to our school community is certainly a positive reflection of his character.
When reflecting on his time with us, Youchan is amazed at the progress he has made, especially in terms of his English level, something helped by his international group of friends, which includes Korean, Chinese, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, and German students. We look forward to continuing to see you thrive in this diverse environment Youchan!
