In 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education with a specialism in Early Years Education from the University of Sunderland, UK. Since graduating, I have worked across the entire Primary age-range, teaching children with a range of special educational needs and second language English learners. I quickly realised I had a passion for early education and enjoy leading a highly successful and enthusiastic team at BSB!

I have worked in the education sector for 10 years in London, my home town. I started off working as a nursery nurse and discovered my love for working with children and I knew this was the perfect career choice for me. I then went on to working as a TA then a HLTA for the next 5 years where I also completed my degree in Education Studies at the University of East London and gained my Qualified Teacher Status at Schools Direct.

Once I was qualified, I then worked as a primary school teacher in a Newham school in East London for 3 years. Whilst working in London I obtained lots of experience, especially in special educational needs and EAL.  Although my roles have differed over time, it has given me great satisfaction in teaching different children, building relationships and playing a major role in each child’s academic development. I believe that the teaching profession is a rewarding and fulfilling job.

Teaching young children is my passion. While teaching life skills to underprivileged children in New York, I became enthusiastic to educate children.

I completed my Early Childhood Education (ECE) at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and my Bachelor of Arts degree at Azusa Pacific University in California, USA. I have a great deal of experience in Early Childhood Education (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 in Canada, the United States, and China.

I studied Business Administration at the University of Central Lancashire, U.K.  After graduating I studied an online TEFL and decided to teach English abroad to gain some good life experiences.  Once I started teaching abroad, I fell in love with the profession and realised that teaching was a career I wanted to go into.  I taught for two years in both China and Thailand and had amazing experiences.

As I am a very ambitious and passionate teacher, I decided to make the tough decision and leave my comfortable lifestyle abroad so I could go back to the United Kingdom to study a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Primary Mathematics Specialist to improve my teaching ability, my understanding of how children learn best and my career prospects.  This has really paid off because I have learnt a considerable amount during my PGCE Primary Mathematics Specialist course and it’s landed me a fantastic job at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi, an excellent school.  I have graduated with the highest grade – Distinction, of which I am proud.
