Katy Jane Gillick (3)

Year 3 Teacher

In 2014, I received a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology, from the University of Surrey. But I soon found teaching was my passion and in 2015 I completed a Postgraduate certificate in Education, from the University of Winchester. Following this, I taught as a Year 6 teacher for three years in state school in the UK. During my time at this school, I was mathematics lead and I loved seeing reluctant mathematicians achieving confidence and enjoyment for the subject. I also had responsibility for leading the school productions, being in charge of residential trips and leading the netball team in various competitions.

I am very excited to be starting in the Year 5 team at the British School of Beijing; I am excited for the new challenges and opportunities the school will offer me. I love travelling and experiencing new cultures – so I can’t wait to fully immerse myself in the Chinese culture and history.

In my spare time, I enjoy swimming and generally any activity in water. I am a PADI qualified scuba diver and have enjoyed many fun holidays diving and seeing some wonderful fish. I also enjoy listening to music (and singing along, badly!), yoga and going to the theatre. I also really enjoy eating out and I am looking forward to trying all the restaurants Beijing has to offer.
