‘Ambition’, has always been something I have considered important throughout my life.  Learning to work above and beyond and to ‘believe to achieve’ is something I have always kept in mind throughout the last 12 years of teaching. Whilst studying for a Master degree in Mathematics and Physics at UCL in 2005, I realised that teaching was something I was passionate about. After completing my degree, I went on to study for a PGCE at Middlesex University and became a qualified teacher in 2007. Years of working in various schools in London gave me valuable experience and insight and I was ready for a new challenge.

I studied Accounting and Finance at the University of Kent, Canterbury and DeMontfort University. After sometime in the accounting field, I decided to change my career path and strive to become someone who could make an impact on the future generation. During my time at school, my teachers made such an impression on my learning journey and truly believed in my potential; this experience inspired me to become the very teacher I am today.

I completed the PGCE for Primary Education at the Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln. With the desire to make an impact and develop my career, I decided to move to London and teach in inner city schools. Teaching in these areas gave me a wealth of experience. It provided me with a platform to develop my management skills as Year Group Leader of 5 and 6 and lead core subjects such a Writing and Science. As a strong believer of lifelong learning, I have continued my professional development by completing the Montessori training and Middle Leaders training.

In 2011, I graduated from the University of Greenwich with a Bachelor of Arts Drama degree. After graduating I volunteered in various schools for 18 months which is where I was inspired to work with children on a permanent basis. Following my passion, I became a Teaching Assistant and then went on to gain my Teachers Qualified Status in 2014, specialising in Mathematics.

I have taught Key Stage one (KS1) and lower Key Stage two (KS2) in a London primary school. I also ran Drama afterschool clubs and was an instrumental part of the Maths Co-ordination team which reshaped the structure of teaching mathematics for young children in KS1.

I joined The British School of Beijing in 2016 as a Year 2 teacher and the Maths Co-ordinator for Primary school. I have really enjoyed all of my experiences so far, and look forward to those still to come.

I am keen to share my learning experiences with children across the world, particularly how fun and innovative you can become when leaning about numbers, which is why I have chosen to become part of the BSB family.
