Rob Goodes
University Degree: BA (Hons) Physical Theatre, PGCE
A number of factors have influenced my wish to become a teacher. I have had considerable experience of working with children and young people, in both voluntary and paid capacities since the age of 15. Having gained a 2:1 BA Hons in Physical Theatre, I have been using my talent to inspire young people to learn in the way that I have been encouraged and inspired. Working initially as a Teaching Assistant, I quickly gained the experience necessary to be accepted onto Canterbury Christ Church University, England’s PGCE and completed the course in 2012. I joined Westgate Primary School as a Newly Qualified Teacher, and worked there for 7 years becoming the English Subject Leader and KS2 Phase Leader to which I am very proud of this achievement in such a short space of time, because of improving the school and even winning an Kent Literacy Award too. I have also received NPQSL (National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership) certificate.
I devoted 7 years of my career at Westgate, but needed a fresh, new challenge and decided to pursue teaching abroad. I wasn’t sure where this would take me until I saw the NAE BSB Shunyi school website and was amazed by everything that it had to offer students and teachers. This is somewhere that I will improve my teaching practice, develop as a leader and help the school to achieve the wonderful goals that it has planned.
