Chad Hayward (1)

Year 6 Teacher, Head of Year 6

I completed a Bachelor of Education (Primary) majoring in Health and Physical Education in 2000. I have successfully combined my passion for education with my love of travel; teaching in Australia, England, USA, Germany, Kenya and El Salvador has allowed me to become a better teacher and gain a greater understanding of the world.

I have been a teacher at BSB Shunyi since 2016 and continue to be impressed with the holistic approach to education at the school. I have been a part of so many amazing learning experiences at BSB as both a Head of Year and as the Head of Primary Physical Education. I believe strongly that our role as educators is to help children become outstanding citizens of an ever changing world, as well as achieve academic success.

I am an Australian who loves sport and has a passion for children’s literacy. I even combined these two joys in my life to write and publish my own book, ‘Normal Norm.’

In my new role, as the Head of Year 6, I am looking forward to guiding the learning of these amazing children, helping them to achieve their full potential,  as well as preparing them for their transition into secondary school. One of the things I am really excited about is the Play in a Week and fingers crossed, an incredible residential at the end of the year!
