I graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a BSc in Computer Science (2002) which included a placement year working in Firenze, Italy at the European University Institute as a Network Engineer. After obtaining my undergraduate degree I completed an MSc in e-Business (2003) and gained a place at Citi Bank on their graduate recruitment program as a Systems Analyst. I spent several years working in Japan and upon returning to the UK I embarked on a career as a teacher and completed the PGCE (2007) at Kings College London. In addition, I have also completed an MA in Education (2011) at UCL Institute of Education focussing on educational leadership. I have 11 years teaching experience gained in a federation of inner London schools and have held various positions ranging from Head of Department, Head of Faculty and most recently the leadership post of Director of Learning. Additionally, in my last role in the UK I line managed the following subject areas: Art, Business, Computing, Construction, Design Technology, Economics, Food, ICT, Photography and Textiles
During my teaching career I have been awarded numerous professional qualifications via the ‘National College of Teaching and Leadership’, most notably the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for Computing and also Advanced Skills Teacher (AST).
I have a love for all things digital and am a member of the British Computer Society (BCS) and Computing at School (CAS) community.
Outside of work my main passion is travelling the world, meeting new people and exploring different places.
I am very much looking forward to working at The British School of Beijing and collaborating with other schools within the Nord Anglia family.
