I completed my BSc in Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire in 1996, and then went on to complete my PGCE at Greenwich University in 1999. I started teaching in a sixth form college and became the Head of one of the largest A’ level Psychology departments in the UK with just under 500 students enrolled on the course. In that time I mentored trainee teachers, liaised with exam boards, became a ‘super mentor’ to other heads of department, and led a very succesful team to achieve consistent outstanding results.
I eventually left this role as I was seeking new challenges. As a result, I went to work in an international school in Kazakhstan. In this role I taught both Psychology and Science. When I left the school, both departments were the highest performing subjects in the school. Prior to joining BSB Shunyi in 2019, I have been working in a British boarding school in which I was the Head of Psychology and the Extended Project Qualification.
I am an avid reader of both books and comics, debating the great questions such as ‘who would win a fight between the Hulk and Thor’? Thank you Avengers films for not clearing this up!
My aspiration is to one day become one of the Marvel superheroes that I love reading about. However, in the meantime I enjoy travellng with my family, and I can’t wait to explore more of China, and South East Asia, which is easily my favorite region in the world. I also enjoy ‘tinkering’ with tech, and any other activity which gets me out of doing household chores, except running. Would rather do the household chores!
