My role as a Teacher at BSB since 2015 is to teach secondary students IB Korean A literature. Out of 15 years of my teaching career, I have been teaching Korean and Chinese students for 10 years in the private sector in Beijing.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Nursing both from Korea University. I have also completed Korean Education programme at the Institute of Foreign Language Studies of Korea University and have a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) as well as a Business English certificate from the Capilano College in Vancouver. Currently I am studying for a Master of Education with King's College of London.
Although Beijing is only an hour's flight away from Seoul, the Chinese and Korean culture and language hold similarities as well as differences within the Asian context. This gives me more reasons to teach deeper understandings of Korean culture to Korean students in China with literature. The study of literature can be deepened with persistence in diverse cultural and linguistic background.
The IB program is especially important for international student admission. With my experiences of guiding students to reach for various score certificates and prepare for entrance tests, I will humbly stay by the students’ side to get the best results possible in the IB programme.
