Chocolate – Year 3 Owls

Year 3 Owls had been actively investigating and researching all about ‘Chocolate’. Wouldn’t it be amazing if chocolate grew on trees? Well, it does! Wouldn’t it be amazing if I said we were going to eat some chocolate? Well, we did! But all in the aid of research and science.

Year 3 students used the scientific method to research, form a hypothesis, write down procedures, perform the experiment, observe and record, interpret results and state conclusions. And they have discovered even more amazing things such how Fair Trade helps everyone to get a fair price, that only royalty was allowed to drink chocolate, and that white chocolate is not chocolate at all! Did you know that Indonesia is the world’s 3rd largest producer of cocoa beans!

The unforgettable and wonderful Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. When Willy Wonka decides to let five children into his chocolate factory, he decides to release five golden tickets in five separate chocolate bars, causing complete mayhem. The tickets start to be found, with the fifth going to a very special boy, called Charlie Bucket. With his Grandpa, Charlie joins the rest of the children to experience the most amazing factory ever. But not everything goes to plan within the factor. The class completed their themed unit with the owner and founder of Cakekasih – Tasya Reza educating the pupils about the different types of chocolate through various taste tests!
