The Owas are in a child-led learning environment, meaning that they are directing their own learning, learning through inquiry and learning from and with each other. These children choose areas of interest to them and direct their time and energy there with their ever-observant teachers facilitating, guiding and deepening the learning opportunities when necessary.
At any moment throughout the day, you will find Owa students building with blocks, baking in an outdoor mud kitchen, designing water channels with pipes, authoring a book, experimenting with colours, visiting the Table of Curiosities, creating an imaginary small world, reading a story, or exploring the natural world with a magnifying glass. This is all in a day of learning at NAS Jakarta.
