Jaws dropped and eyes stared in wonder as the circus came to ISM this summer, in the form of Family Fun Day 2019. The children of Krylatskoe were left thoroughly entertained by magicians and bouncy castles, stunt bike riders and acrobats, clowns and sideshows, as well as everything else in-between. For one afternoon, ISM truly hosted the greatest show on Earth.
Throughout the day, entertainers roamed the grounds, putting a smile on every face, young and old. Unicycling and juggling clowns showed off their skills, as did bubble artists and magicians. Perhaps the most popular though, were the featured acts on the main stage. Death defying bicycle stunts and balancing acrobats left the audience gasping, while our ‘man-in-a-box’ clown had everyone giggling.
The children themselves put on some of the best entertainment of the day, in the form of traditional sideshow stalls. Whether you wanted to test your accuracy, your strength, or your brain, everything was possible. We had colourful pillow-fights, racing mini-cars and master classes for clown tricks. You could even splash your favourite teacher!
Taste-buds were not forgotten either, as the children were able to indulge in free cotton-candy and ice-cream. Parents meanwhile, were happy to unfurl their picnic blankets, unpack their baskets and enjoy the colour and music of a refreshingly cool summer’s day.
As is our school tradition, we also held a Grand Charity Raffle, Children’s Tombola and ‘Once-in-a-Lifetime Auction’. Even after all this fun, some families went home with even broader smiles after taking home a prize or two.
Family Fun Day is a great opportunity for ISM families to support members of our local community. With this in mind, we are proud to announce that just over 1.55 million Rubles was raised to support our own student Melisa Erdem’s heart transplant (heartformelisa.com). This is a testament to the community spirit and generosity of our ISM families. We are humbled and grateful for your generous contributions.
Family Fun Day was only made possible with the support of our community and, in particular, our Krylatskoe Parent Representatives. We would like to say a big “Thank You’ to everyone who contributed to this bumper event and joined us in our celebration. We hope that this day will provide you with another happy moment from your children’s school years to look back upon with happiness and pride.
