Dreams and Nightmares: Book Day World Book Day was celebrated in Upper Primary this year with the theme 'Dreamland'. Our students enjoyed the opportunity to come to school dressed in their bedtime clothes and share their favourite stories to read before bed! IMG_6972_hero1

World Book Day is always an event on the school calendar that our students and staff look forward to and this year was no exception!

The fun twist we had this year was to run the theme of ‘Dreams and Nightmares’, giving Year 5 and 6 the opportunity to share and explore stories relating to these weird and wonderful experiences. Our students enjoyed the opportunity to come to school dressed in their bedtime clothes and share their favourite stories to read before bed!

Each class had its own creative lessons based around this theme, including story writing, art activities involving dream jars, menu-sampling of different stories to write reviews and author studies.

Children each had a blank tie that they decorated with images and words associated with their favourite books, characters, and authors.

Some classes enjoyed the opportunity to do peer reading with students from Year 8, which was wholly enjoyed by all participants.

World Book Day is always an enjoyable excuse for us to celebrate the joy of reading and all children in Upper Primary certainly had this opportunity on World Book Day this year. A fun and worthwhile day had by all!
