Art with an Important Message of Peace

We are delighted to announce that the collaborative art pieces made by the primary students in our Water and Earth House Teams have both been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ certificates in the NAE Global Campus Visual Arts Competition.

Students from across the NAE family of schools were challenged to produce pieces inspired by the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development and our students choice to work collaboratively on Goal 16 : Peace, justice and strong institutions.

Along with the all the winners and runners up, copies of these commended works will be displayed at the United Nations in New York during the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July attended by NAE students from across our family of schools. This Art will be celebrated and viewed by for government and UN officials and we are very proud of this achievement. We are lucky to have the original art work hanging in our lobby!

Circle of Peace

Earth Team  students in Years 1-3

Title: Circle of Peace

  • Global Gaol Goal 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions
  • Children collaborated to agree words representing what peace means to them. They included the word ‘peace’ in different languages, reflecting harmony between different nations and cultures. They decorated wooden tiles with their words and displayed them on a colourful, unifying circle with a heart to symbolise love.
NISJ Fish 3

Water Team students in Years 4-7

  • Title: Peace in the Oceans
  • Goal 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions
  • This collaborative piece uses a fish to symbolise a calm and peaceful ocean, free from plastic pollution. The weaving was completed with recycled materials, using plastic waste positively to create something beautiful. Located it in the lobby, it is a daily reminder that we must live in peace with nature.
