IB CAS Students - Roundabout Update

15 10월 2015

  • Roundabout
  • Roundabout

The students at BSB have been volunteering at Roundabout once or twice every week for the past month. Roundabout is an organization that sells donated goods, and the proceeds go to several different charities.

The first time we were there, we tested electronic appliances so see if they could be sold. While we were doing this, others were sorting books and clothes. The second time we went, we checked boxes of puzzles and games to make sure all of the pieces were complete, and we labelled them accordingly. The third time we went, we did the same thing, but others were assigned the task of restoring tables to make them presentable enough to sell. These jobs were seemingly mediocre, but knowing the fact that a little job could change someone’s life definitely made us committed to coming back every week. We will continue to volunteer every week.

The first time we went to Roundabout, the volunteers showed us a very touching movie of how Roundabout helps others. The movie was made by the volunteers and it showed before and after sequences of the lives of the children the money had gone to. It motivated us and it was very effective because it ended up with all students working harder because we could see with our own eyes that the hours volunteers like us put in actually make a difference.
