World Scholars' Cup
Saturday 11th April and Sunday 12th April saw the regional round of the World Scholars Cup here at BSB. More than 250 delegates attended to debate, write and quiz. Having attended on both days, I can tell you that the atmosphere was incredible, and our students rose to the occasion, claiming a record number of awards and medals. All of our teams qualified for the international round in Kuala Lumpur in June. We are extremely proud of them, they were great ambassadors for us, and we wish them all the best for the KL tournament!

World Scholars' Cup
For the first time in our school’s history, we hosted the prestigious Regional Round of The World Scholar’s Cup; an event which aims to bring the world’s greatest-young minds together. On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, BSB opened it’s ever welcoming doors to over 270 people: students and staff, alike. The organisers of the event stated that it was the largest Regional Round seen in Beijing to date.
If you had somehow managed to miss it, the school had a massive World Scholar’s Cup banner adorning the side of our wonderful school in preparation; the slogan of which read: ‘We’re Ready, Are You?’
My, oh my, were we ready! With the most successful medal and trophy haul the school has ever seen, the thirty students won over 100 medals between them; demonstrating great written, spoken and collaborative skills. As well as a fantastic medal return, all thirty students qualified for the next round in Malaysia. The Global Round, held in Kuala Lumpur, will see our school’s delegation come up against 3000 other students from the continent.
A special mention must be paid to Jenny Hwang of Year 11. Jenny performed so well over the weekend that she was awarded Top Senior Debater; meaning that of the 253 student entries, she received the top accolade along with countless trophies and medals.
