25th June

Senior Team - Update from Ms. Colleen Usher

Seniors completed their Scholars bowl (results coming out tomorrow) then this afternoon was the Debate Showcase and the Talent Show.  All seniors now busily getting ready for the Scholars Ball tonight!

Junior Team – Update from Mr. Martin Harrison

Today saw our Junior Scholars let their hair down, as they earned a well deserved day off. So with swim suits and sun cream al..pack..a..ed, sorry but the WSC is finally beginning to take its toll on me, our mini masterminds headed for the Sunway Lagoon Water Park.

Once there the students had a fantastic time at what boasts to be Asia's biggest water park. It even has its own man-made beach and wave system. Armed with a bracelet that guaranteed them limitless entries on any of the amusement park rides, our students certainly took full advantage and held them to their word.

The students learned a lot from the experience, particularly physics and that what goes up must come down, but with regards to drinking too much fizzy drinks and then riding the 'Tomahawk' more than three times in a row, will definitely reverse Newton's law of gravity! They also learnt that Jeremy definitely does NOT like heights, in any shape or form, and that a large bag of hot fried onion rings and more fizzy drinks will fix any problem! The students had six full, sun baked, splash happy hours of fun before heading back to the hotel. It was a little too much for some, who lost themselves in sleep on the way home. We had our usual 7/11 visit to get snacks to keep them going until they got to the, much anticipated, 'Scholar's Ball' tonight.

All of the students gathered in the foyer of our hotel in all of their finery, looking every part like ladies and gentlemen, both Ms Usher and I were so proud of them. We all headed back to the Petronas Towers Convention Centre for the ball. It was a very, very loud but impressive spectacle as all 1700+ students gathered for the grand finale but by 22:30 the boys had decided that "jumping up and down on one spot with your hand in the air for an hour, was more than enough", as Konnor put it, so it was time to return to the comfort of their beds. The girls had a lot more partying left in them and had decided to see the celebrations out until the end, at 1:00! I wish I still had their stamina!

The last full WSC day completed!
