On day five of the year 10 trip, students had breakfast in two of the four guesthouses that they stayed at in Shaxi before they were split into two different groups based on the preferences sent through earlier for biking or hiking.
The hiking group were guided through the day by Mr. Wu. Before getting started on the hiking trail, Ben from the Hutong guided students through some fun stretching exercises. Afterwards Mr. Wu took the lead in guiding students through the trail in the woods leading upto the temple that he resides in for two weeks of every month.
The other half of the group had a fantastic day cycling through villages and the countryside around Shaxi. After collecting our bikes we participated in a meticulous training session before setting off along the river. We went up hill and down dale before eating a mouth watering buffet at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the valley we had ridden through. They were thus able to experience the path taken for by the tea horse caravan traders of the past. After eating their packed lunch on top of Shibaoshan mountain, students were given a guided tour of the ancient grottoes in the temple while Mr Wu shared many interesting details regarding them. After the tour, students were given some time to sketch their favourite grotto in their trip notebooks.
The day ended with the dinner story activity where students could order on their own within a given budget and then all groups shared their reflection posters with each other as a finale to this memorable and enriching residential trip for year 10.
Parents please note: Year 10 Pick Up time at school on Friday 18 October is approximately 9:45pm. Thanks
